We drove to Tavistock to pick up a sofa on Freecycle, stopping on the way back to visit this amazing 13th century church in Brentor, built on top of this beautiful hill on the outskirts of Dartmoor. I'm not religious, but church buildings have such resonance and this one in particular is one those places that makes your skin tingle with awe.
Imagine coming out of a church service to this view! |
Someone from the village climbs the hill every morning to put fresh flowers inside |
A beautiful kissing gate |
And finally, a pretty little house I always admire on the way to and from Tavi.
The sofa has inspired a new arrangement in our living room, which suddenly seems a much more welcoming space!
Milly likes the new sofa too!
Hi Chloe

ReplyDeleteHi Chloe - what a beautiful post... so many lovely landscapes, though I'll admit my favorite pictures are those with your daughter in them!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dee!
ReplyDeleteGrowing up with the last name of Knight I quickly became enamored of Castles. Before long I was hooked on British novels and gothic romances. That lead me to the BBC and all the great who-done-it's and period serials. I have longed to visit these places for decades and all your lovely photos will have me day dreaming for weeks about what it would be like to have stood in your shoes this day.
ReplyDeleteSuch a delightful post. Fantastic images. Your home is just what I would want my english cottage to be if I could spend some time in one.
Thanks for your lovely comment, Rita! The English countryside is really gorgeous, I could spend my life quite happily wandering around photographing it and exploring the lovely old churches! x
