A flippety-floppy wonky donkey

Tra-la!

Well it's been a gentle week during which I've been working on my very own Skitchbook! Seeing as the universal engine didn't heed my plea for Hoola Tallulah's lovely giveaway, I got off my lardy rump n made my own. It differs from hers in that she used proper felt whereas I've used ScrapStore recycled fleece oddments stitched roughly together in wobbly imitation, but I'm quietly pleased with the result nonetheless and as usual obsessively snatching precious minutes in which to work on my new baby!

It is incredibly satisfying to put something like this together from scratch with whatever's to hand just to get it done. It still needs more work; some more detailing to the back cover and some fastenings. As my good friend Little Dotty Bird won the giveaway I'll be able to see the difference between the two in the flesh when it arrives and I'll try to maintain a veneer of happiness for her good fortune - no doubt she'll still frisk me anyway in case I try to make off out the door with it.

Thank you Hoola Tallulah for being so inspiring! xx

  1. Ahhh, I am SO glad you made one! Where are the photos lovely Miss Chloe? I must see! Also, I didn't use proper felt, most of the inner pages are the craft store stuff, though I did sacrifice a pure wool scarf for the cover (charity shop find - dig in the scarf box at yours, theres always nice woolens!). Can't wait to see, I am stupidly delighted that anyone would take the time to make something from my pattern! <3

    1. As gutted as I was not to win yours, it was actually really good for me to get stitching - it's too easy to just admire other people's work & endlessly pin stuff but so satisfying to do it yourself! Wouldn't ever have done this without your tute, even though I loved yours and its something I really NEED!! Thanks again x

  4. There were no pics last time I looked at this post, either my pc was being squiffy or they really weren't there, either way, I am super glad they are now! WOWSERS, you whipped that up quick, and it is absolutely perfect! Did you use fleece? It looks so cosy, I have so much fleece, it never occured to me to use it for this! Gorgeous monster pocket and I love how you stitched the pages too. truly, I am so honoured that you liked my pattern x

    1. Nowt wrong with your pc, I just hadn't uploaded them! So glad you like it - it's all finished now and in use! I did use fleece and it's a little floppier than felt but doubled up on the covers works fine :-)
